Fall - 2010 Schedule:

Fee - $24 per class (except where noted).  A one-time supply fee may apply.

Deposit - $30 nonrefundable enrollment fee due at the time of registration   


MONDAYS

Mind Madness-Research shows “bright” children are unchallenged the majority of the school day. Mind Madness addresses this issue by providing kids with a rigorous curriculum that proves to be great fun.  Riddles and logic puzzles, divergent thinking games, science experiments, and mysteries are only a sampling of the many brain exercises Mind Madness will offer.  The mind is too great to waste; come join the madness!     

 

  • First thru Third Grade (children will be grouped by age for many activities)
  • Mondays, 3:45-5:15 beginning September 13, 2010

 

 

TUESDAYS

Reading & Writing Blast!-Blast off to the magical world of literacy.  Children will explore consonant and vowel sounds, word families, rhyming words, and writing activities through music, games, scavenger hunts,  art, and science.  Many fun opportunities will be offered to enhance fine and gross motor skills.  Children will discover reading is a blast!

 

  • Preschool and Kindergarten
  • Tuesdays, 10:00-11:30 beginning September 7

 

Books, Bubbles, & Beakers!-Books will come to life as children explore math and reading concepts through hands-on learning activities. Kids will go crazy as potions fizz, bubble and ooze.  They will just think they are having fun; you will know how much they are learning! 

 

·        Preschool and Kindergarten

·        Tuesdays, 12:00-2:00 beginning September 7 (Children can bring a lunch and eat from 12:00-12:30.  Class begins at 12:30.) 

 

 

 KinderologyMany kindergarteners need more learning challenges than the traditional kindergarten curriculum offers. Kinderology can help! Higher level reading and math skills will be enhanced through creative innovations, critical thinking, problem-solving, scavenger hunts, and collaboration. Children will learn physics by building bridges, flying planes, and creating amazing science experiments!   What a great way to challenge young learners while they are having fun.

WEDNESDAYS

Zizzle & Wizzle-Calling all three year olds to learn with Zizzle and Wizzle.  Young children will be delighted with these puppets.  Zizzle and Wizzle will teach concepts such as letters, numbers, opposites, and rhymes.  Kids will squeal and laugh as Zizzle and Wizzle tell their stories.  Turn your three year old on to learning!  Don’t miss the debut of Zizzle and Wizzle.

Wild & Wacky Math-Math, Math, everywhere!  Children will discover math concepts surround us!  We will explore math skills through number raps, dances, games, art, literature, and cooking.  Jump on the math wagon and let’s get rappin’!

·        Wednesdays, 12:00-2:00 beginning September 8 (Children can bring a lunch and eat from 12:00-12:30. Class begins at 12:30.) 

 

 

 

Witty Wednesdays:  Beat the midweek doldrums with Witty Wednesdays!  These are short-term class offerings for the 2010-2011 school year. There will be some additional classes added to the 2011 schedule, so be sure and check the website frequently!  Please check the dates of the following sessions:

 

Dazzling Divas- Sorry guys, divas only!  Come and explore science the girl’s way.  The science of color and fashion, glow in the dark pink snot,  bath salts, perfume balloons, purple slime, and much more!  Lessons in healthy body image and self esteem will be addressed in each class through literature, play acting, and puppets.  Together, we will dazzle!

·        Wednesdays, September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 3:45-5:15- ($7.00 supply fee)

 

Pumpkins & Potions-Halloween and Science?  You bet!  Halloween is the perfect time for oozing, bubbling, and slimy mixtures.  Kids will learn chemistry, anatomy, and physics, and they won’t even know it!  Don’t miss out on the fun this October!  There will be some surprises!

·        Wednesdays, 3:45-5:15-October 6, 13, 20, 27 ($7.00 supply fee)

 

 

Shiver Me Timbers: Here Come the Pirates-New class offering at Fiction, Facts, & Fun!  What a great opportunity to incorporate reading, history, and science in a fun and creative way.  Kids will create a treasure map, make some pirate concoctions, go on scavenger hunts, learn pirate vocabulary, research clothing worn by pirates, experiment with light and darkness with an eye patch, and learn some important facts about famous pirates in history.  This class will be hit. I promise, matey!

·        Wednesdays, 3:45-5:15- November 3, 10, & 17

 

 

Who Stole Santa’s List?-The North Pole Mystery Series-We are getting a 911 from the North Pole.  Santa needs your help.   Calling all super sleuths to Fiction, Facts, & Fun.  Santa’s list was stolen.  Come and help save Christmas by solving the clues and retrieving the list.  Hurry, time is running out!

Custom Fit-“Tailor-Made” Learning-Children will be working on activities that are conducive for their learning style and needs.  Students will be grouped according to ages, curriculum needs, and level. Children will be challenged to their greatest potential, engaging in activities that encourage, enhance, and develop greater “brain power.”

“Cook” A Doodle Doo and Other Fun Tales- Cook up some reading fun this summer! Children will learn basic reading and phonics skills as they mix, stir, and taste different concoctions weekly.  Each class session, a new literature selection and phonics focus will be introduced.  This will be a hands-on, “delicious” class your child won’t want to miss. Learning to read has never been so fun!

  • June 7 through August 2
     

Brain Bulge II-Keep pushing it!  The focus will be on wacky ways to take it to the next level. Higher level logic, deductive reasoning, and word and math  puzzles will be part of our weekly activities.  Children will be amused with fun riddles and math tricks. Scavenger hunts, small group science investigations, and brainstorming are some of the many activities that will be explored in this session.  Don’t miss out this summer.  Let your brain bulge with knowledge!

  • June 7 through August 2
     

The “Buzz” on “Biz”-Bring it on! -Calling all entrepreneurs! Mark Zuckerberg may not be the youngest billionaire for long!  Kids will create, develop, and market their own business ideas.  They will present to a panel of judges who will determine the winners of the competition.  Each student/group will have an opportunity to win an award.    For the final project, students will have the choice to work in a group or individually!  Loads of fun and a whole lot of learning!  Come and get the buzz on the biz! 
 

  • Third through Sixth Grade
  • Mondays, June 7, 14, 21, & 28
  • 2:00-3:30
     

Urban Myths and Facts-Truth or Consequences?-Don’t believe everything you hear!  Come and explore popular urban legends, ghost stories, superstitions, historical facts and more!  Is it fact or fiction?  You will decide.  The class will be conducted as a game show.   Guaranteed to bring laughter, creative learning, and a whole lot of fun!

TUESDAYS

Kindergarten-I’m on my Way!- Kindergarten  is more than tying shoes!  Children will receive a jump start this summer.   Reading, math, motor skills, and science will be the weekly activities. Children will also participate in fun and wacky learning games and music movements. Young children will discover kindergarten is a great place to be!

Burp, Slurp, & Slime-The class speaks for itself!  There is nothing more fun for kids than to make things ooze, gush, pop, and foam.  We will do all of this and more!  Great for developing fine motor skills, following directions, and creating a love for learning!  Burp, Slurp, & Slime will be a summer favorite!

Brain Bulge I-Train the brain like you do your muscles!   Brain Bulge focuses on logic, deductive reasoning, and  critical thinking.  Children will be amused with fun riddles and math tricks. Bebop and Boogie- Children will wiggle and move their way to learning!  Consonant and vowel sounds, rhyming words and number recognition will be explored through music and movement.    This is a great class for young and active children.  You won’t believe what children can learn through music and repetition!  Don’t miss this class offering for the youngest of learners.

Moving Forward- Research says many children lose up to two months of knowledge over the summer. Don’t let this happen!  Reading comprehension, math skills, and writing will be the focus in small groups.  Keep the brain sharp this summer at Moving Forward

Yikes, Not Me!-The Gross Facts about Humans and other Living Creatures-Kids are into gross!  Why not learn the science behind gross body functions?  Kids will create vomit, spit, poop, ear wax, gas, and many other gross concoctions, while learning the science behind them.  What a great way to get kids turned on to science!

THURSDAYS

The Best of the Quirkles- The Quirkles Literacy books are for children who want to push their reading, vocabulary, and science boundaries.  They will learn earth, life and physical science concepts in a way that’s so engaging; they won’t even realize how much they’re learning! Children will be enlightened as things pop, fizz, and change color!  You’ll know they are learning advanced concepts; they’ll just know they are having fun!   Gilbert, Vinnie, Zeke, Pete, and more will make a 2010 summer debut!

Math, Munch, & Move-Kids will munch and move their way through math!  Pretzels, marshmallows, skittles, cereal and many more tasty treats will be used to reinforce number sense and build skills in addition, subtraction, patterns, time, and measurement. Music, exercise, and dance will also be used to reinforce skills.  Children will love math after a summer in Math, Munch, & Move.

Summer Specialty Classes

Marty the Magician’s Magic Workshop-Amaze your friends and family with the magic tricks you will learn from Marty.  Take home several fun and amazing activities to perform your own magic show.  Marty does not share his tricks with everyone….what a great opportunity to learn from the best!  Hurry, space is limited!

Fabulous Females-It’s Ladies Day!  We will learn the secret instructions every girl should know!  Jewelry making, fashion tips, color mixing, pink lip gloss, girly goo,  and a lot of girl talk will be some of our activities.   It will be an afternoon to remember!
